Best Art Blogs of 2022

The last few years have really not been good ones for the international art scene.

As you know, the global pandemic forced the closure of many of the world’s museums and galleries for a long time. Some social restrictions and measures look like they will probably continue for a little while longer.

International art exhibitions, showcases, and launches moved to an online platform throughout the various lockdowns with many of these still continuing with an online element now that the world has opened up again.

This gave the world of art blogs a much-deserved uptake in readership. Many of the best ones offer a daily source of creative inspiration while providing us with information on current and upcoming art shows.

I found myself absorbing these art blogs over the last few years, and the first trips Jason and I had out when restrictions were over was, of course, to art museums and galleries (ones we found via blog write-ups!).

  1. ARTNET Artnet News is the world’s first dedicated 24-hour global art market newswire. Their goal is to inform, engage, and connect people with the world of art. Using a network of reporters and editors around Europe, Asia, and North America, their articles are always up to date. A wide range of content from rising stars, buyers guides, politics affecting art to exhibition reviews it’s my go-to art blog for a more global view of the industry.

  2. Contemporary Art Daily Contemporary Art Daily was founded back in 2008 with a simple premise, they publish documentation of at least one current exhibition every day. Since then, they've formed a non-profit organization and built on this work. You can, in fact, submit your exhibition to their online exhibition library with all submissions considered for publication (no guarantees mind). The online exhibition library represents 14,000 exhibitions globally and has a functional search capacity. Worth checking out for its stylish daily exhibition posts.

  3. Juxtapoz is well-known for both print and online publications. They feature a well-curated mix of current trends and underground movements combined with artist features and news on outstanding exhibitions. I’m a big fan of their book recommendations.

  4. The Jealous Curator This beautiful art blog was launched in 2009 by Danielle Krysa as a place to showcase artworks that made her jealous. Danielle says: “I started the blog to document the work I loved, but more importantly, I wanted to find a way to flip the jealousy into something positive – admiration and inspiration to be specific. It worked!” Danielle also formed the ‘No Such Thing As Too Much Art Society’ well worth signing up to for daily art emails. I did through the pandemic and it cheers me greatly.

  5. Colossal With a focus on art, design, and visual culture, Colossal is a well-known art blog. They cover a wide range of highly inspiring topics and showcase the creative work of both emerging and established artists from around the globe. They’ve been established for over 11 years and have adapted and grown with online capabilities and the global art world alike. Great coverage for all disciplines and art movements/trends.

  6. Empty Easel A personal favorite as an emerging artist myself Empty Easel is an art blog that not only features a wide range of international artists but also provides readers with lots of amazing tutorials, business advice, and art research. For those who want to learn more about how to start a personal business as an artist or those who simply want to learn how to draw or paint, this website is a great source for you.

So there you have it, some great art blogs to keep you informed and up-to-date with all things art.

Much Love,
